DVD 1: Happy People

In the heart of the Siberian taiga, the isolated village of Bakhtia is home to a community of trappers living in extreme conditions, almost cut off from the world.

Documentary filmmaker Dmitry Vasyukov shared their daily life for a year, filming their way of life and their connection to nature. From these images, Werner Herzog creates a narrative that is both poetic and philosophical about the relationship between man and the wild.

DVD 2: Into the Abyss


In 2001, in Texas, Michael Perry and Jason Burkett murdered three people during a carjacking. Arrested, they were convicted: life imprisonment for Burkett, death penalty for Perry.

Shortly before Perry's execution in 2010, Werner Herzog met him, then investigated by interviewing relatives, investigators, and witnesses, with the aim of understanding rather than judging.
