Emilia Pérez is a musical drama directed by Jacques Audiard and released in 2024. The film tells the story of a Mexican cartel leader, played by Karla Sofía Gascón, who fakes his own death and undergoes gender transition with the help of a lawyer played by Zoe Saldaña, in order to start a new life and indirectly reconnect with his ex-wife, played by Selena Gomez.

Presented in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, the film won the Jury Prize and the Collective Best Actress Award, then achieved great critical success and numerous accolades, including several César Awards. It also made history at international awards with numerous nominations at the Golden Globes and the Oscars.
