Jimmy’s Hall (entitled La Salle de danse in Quebec) is a British film directed by Ken Loach, released in 2014 and inspired by real events. It tells the story of James Gralton, an Irish republican who opened a dance hall in a rural area in the 1920s and 1930s. This place quickly became a space for learning, sharing, and culture, but it drew opposition from the Catholic Church and conservative circles.
