Esther Kahn is a French-British film directed by Arnaud Desplechin and released in 2000. Its screenplay is inspired by a short story written by Arthur Symons and published in 1905.

At the end of the 19th century, in London's East End, Esther Kahn works as a seamstress with her Jewish family, but dreams of another life. After discovering theater, she decides to become an actress. Progressing from small roles to understudies, she eventually gains her independence and perfects her acting skills thanks to the advice of an experienced actor, while still seeking the life experience she lacks.
